SSRI Medications and Depression: List and Side Effects

SSRI medications - Depression is a medical condition-psychiatric disorders and not just a sad state of affairs, when the conditions of the depressed a person to cause the disruption of social activities day-to-day then it is called as a Depressive Disorder.

Some of the symptoms of Depressive Disorders is the feeling of sadness, excessive fatigue after the activity of the usual routine, lost interest and enthusiasm, lazy day, and disruption of sleep patterns.

SSRI Medications

Antidepressants used for clinical purposes in a number of indications including the following :

1 To reduce feelings of restlessness, panic, and stress.
2 Relieve insomnia
3 To reduce the seizures / attacks in epilepsy care.
4 to Cause muscle relaxation in conditions of muscle tension.
5 To lower blood pressure and or heart rate.
6 To improve mood and / or increase the kesupelan.

Types of antidepressants are :

1 tricyclic antidepressants (ATS)
2 inhibitors of monoamine oxidase (MAOI)
3 selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIS)

The drug class SSRI like Sertraline and Fluoxetine have different side effects depending on the type of drugs consumed. Anti deprasan such as amitriptyline also have effects of anti-seizure. This class is used in patients who are depressed and also experiencing anxiety, or for long-term use where it is feared the arising of dependence when using benzodiazepine.

SSRI Medications

We understand that the patient with the use of antidepressants usually lasts a long time. On a variety of recent literature it is recommended that patients continue treatment although it has been improved until at least 6 months since the improvement of symptoms.

This is so repeated symptoms do not occur. For that the selection of drugs in addition to tolerability and effectiveness, then the safety of the drug if used in a long period of time or if used in conjunction with other drugs need to be considered.
